Athletes Breast Augmentation Revision

A fitness professional, and mother of two girls, this remarkable young woman visited us from Tampa, Florida. She had a previous saline breast augmentation, and was starting to lose volume from her right side. She was also uhappy with her loss of projection over time, and was looking to upgrade her overall breast aesthetic.

Her previous surgeon used a higher than normal inframammary incision, leaving a visible scar on the lower pole of her breast. While this scar cannot be removed, it can be minimized by using a different implant profile, and by judicious use of laser skin resurfacing.

For our procedure, we wanted to upgrade her implant to an ultracohesive gel implant, and tighten up her lateral pole, as she felt that the implant was sliding into her armpit. Her muscle mass, and flexibility were absolutely elite in nature, and we did not think she required mesh support for her implants. Her fascial planes were simply fabulous, and there was just no need to fix what was nearly perfect.

We proceeded with a near complete capsulectomy on both sides, and a suture tightening technique to the lateral breast on both sides to maintain good medial cleavage. Her initial implants were moderate profile 450cc filled to 470cc. We replaced those implants with High profile 525cc Mentor Silicone Gel implants via a new, secondary inframammary incision. To reduce the appearance of her prior incision, we undertook a series for erbium-YAG laser resurfacings to the scar to blend it into the background. Results are shown at 6 months.
