Learn About DD's Story

An avid crossfitter who has competed in regional events, this beautiful mother of three was referred to us by her trainer.

Crossfit produces a unique blend of muscle mass with cross functionality, and women who avidly pursue Crossfit tend to develop a remarkably balanced and reliable subpectoral fascia. This fascia is used in our breast augmentation technique to support implant position both at rest, and during exercise/activity.

Preoperative analysis showed that there was a significant gap between breasts due to where the pectoralis major muscle inserts along the midline. Also, her body fat is commonly below 18%, and she has minimal natural breast tissue. Due to her low level of breast tissue, the implant must be placed in the submuscular position. We undertook a “dual plane” breast augmentation, which means that the implant is placed beneath the muscle, and then the breast tissue is released from the pectoralis muscle secondarily. This technique allows the implant to get the benefits of being under the muscle, but also allows the implant to directly support the breast gland itself.

The patient was interested in a more conservative appearance, and she elected to proceed with a high profile silicone implant, 415cc in size. Implants were placed via an inframammary approach. When undertaking breast augmentation, we always strive to medialize the implants as much as possible to reduce the gap between the implants. This requires meticulous attention to detail, and time, but the closer we can get the implants, the better cleavage is achieved in the patient.

This case clearly shows the benefit of craftsmanship in breast augmentation. Results are shown at six months.
