Shelley is a full time registered nurse, wife, daughter, and mother of two boys. She had undergone a mommy makeover with a plastic surgeon years ago, and was very unhappy with the size and shape of her breasts. At the time of her previous surgery, she had a 275cc moderate profile saline breast implant placed. She did not like the lack of fullness in the superior pole of the breast, and felt that she had too much fullness in the lateral pole.
Shelley wanted to create better cleavage, and have a full upper pole to her breast (if the breast is a clock she wanted fullness from 9 to 3 o’clock). We elected to remove her implants, release her capsule circumferentially, and place Mentor ultra high profile 535cc silicone cohesive gel implants (aka Gummy Bears).
We used her previous incision below her breast for access, and internally created room for her new implant without having to remove her pre-existing capsule. With this technique, recovery takes less than 48 hours.
This outcome represents the importance of breast profile when undergoing breast augmentation. Her previous lift procedure was successful, but the implant did not fit her desired result, or the new breast position. After analyzing her chest diameter, shoulder proportions, and her overall breast shape, she was clearly best suited for an implant that accentuated the upper pole more than the lateral pole. Her chest diameter was perfectly suited for the 535cc implant, and she has enjoyed her new aesthetic since her surgery.
