Emsculpt – Gluteal Augmentation

The “Year of the Rear” is still here, and we at Ocean Drive® are proud to offer Emsculpt Neo for patients looking to chisel and perfect their backsides.  Over the last twenty years, Brazilian Butt Lifting has gained wide notoriety for both its outcomes and its risks.  While patient satisfaction with that procedure remains high, so do the risks of that specific type of surgery.

At Ocean Drive®, patient safety is just as mission critical as patient outcomes.  Because of the itinerant risks with BBL surgery, we recognize that not everyone wants that super-expanded look, or the risks of surgery.  Instead, we provide a multitude of nonsurgical interventions that can provide safe, natural, and remarkable results without the risks of the knife.  At the forefront of these offerings is Emsculpt Neo.Emsculpt NEO uses a combination of high intensity focused electromagnetism (HIFEM) and radiofrequency ablation (RF) to create a biologic trigger that increases muscle mass, and tightens skin.  This remarkable platform delivers something that cannot be given by surgery, injectable therapy, or laser therapy – new, vibrant muscle!  This landmark technology forces a new type of muscle contractile therapy that results in a near 25% increase in muscle mass after four treatments.  And yes, this statement is supported by the US Food and Drug Administration.  Emsculpt NEO is FDA approved for muscle enhancement and fat loss.

For the buttock, the treatment protocol does NOT remove fat at all.  We want the volume, so the protocol we use in this setting is only for muscle creation, not any fat removal.  So, for those of us blessed with goodness on the backside, fear not!  This is still your platform if you want to add vibrant muscle to the goodness you already have on your backside.  For those with “flat butt”, this is your best option without surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does it Hurt?

Not at all.  Most patients describe the sensation as “weird” or “exhilarating”.  The room itself is full of giggles during the therapy.  Each treatment is twenty or thirty minutes.

How much does it cost?

Cost per treatment cycle is between $850 to $1200, but can vary greatly based on purchase of multiple treatment cycles, or by combining Emsculpt with other therapies offered at Ocean Drive Plastic Surgery, Ocean Drive MedSpa, or Ocean Drive Dermatology.  Emsculpt cannot be filed to medical insurance for payment coverage, nor can it be billed in conjunction with medical insurance.

Who is a candidate for this procedure?

The most invigorating component of this technology is its inclusivity.  Literally everyone can benefit from Emsculpt therapy.  Having said that, results obviously vary from an aesthetic standpoint, and are directly related to the amount of Emsculpt used, and the intensity tolerated per session.  We routinely get our clients up to 100% intensity within 5 minutes of the treatment’s beginning. The Ideal candidate for Emsculpt is someone within a body mass index of 30 or less.  The platform literally “grabs” the gluteal muscles, and causes  athletic status.

Who is not a candidate for Emsculpt?

Due to the magnetic nature of Emsculpt, patients with steel, stainless steel, or titanium imiplants cannot use Emsculpt.  There is a possibility that the electromagnet can interact with the joint implant.  Patients with dental implants can undergo Emsculpt therapy.  However, patients with hip, knee, elbow, shoulder, or ankle prostheses made of metal, or women with metal containing intrauterine devices, are not candidates for Emsculpt.

How long does it take?

Treatment for the abdomen takes thirty minutes.  No downtime.  Patients do not require narcotics for this treatment.  They are able to drive home, go back to work, and assume any activity they desire immediately following treatment.

Is it permanent?

Fat loss from the radiofrequency is permanent on the cellular level, but it does not replace the need for a reasonable, balanced diet.  Muscle gains will need to be maintained either by increasing muscle activity/gym, or by maintenance treatments with Emsculpt.  We recommend maintenance treatments at four month intervals to maintain baseline muscle gains, but the degree of muscle you wish to maintain can be increased by more frequent sessions.

What treatments are commonly used with Emsculpt to obtain my best possible abdomen?

While Emsculpt Neo is the absolute comprehensive standard for body contouring, it does not directly address the health of your skin.  Patients undergoing Emsculpt therapy commonly use LED therapy to the skin to reduce inflammation, and promote collagenesis.  Further, all patients undergoing Emsculpt are urged to receive lymphatic massages weekly during their three session cycle to maximize results.
