The fastest growing group of consumers in cosmetic plastic surgery is men. Over the last fifteen years, the number of men seeking out improvements in their self-image has increased over 450%. There are a number of factors that are driving this increase, and we anticipate that demand for plastic surgery amongst men will only increase. The most common surgical procedures undertaken in men are eyelid surgery, liposuction with/without tummy tuck, and gynecomastia surgery. From a nonsurgical standpoint, men appear to like Botox and Xeomin injections, laser resurfacing, and low dose dermal fillers. The most popular treatment for men without surgery is Ultherapy.
While many of the procedures that are available for men are also used in women, please note that the technique used in men markedly differs from women. For example, men do not want a curvy abdomen with large hips, but many women do. That means that male patients require different techniques than women patients. At Ocean Drive Plastic Surgery, we are proud to say that over 30% of our clientele’ is male (the national average is 11%). We believe that this statistic is due to our comprehensive understanding of the male self-image, and how it differs from the female self-image.
